Building Permit Questions

Q: Do I need a Building Permit?

A: We suggest checking with you local municipality as the codes vary and often permits are based on size and use. While permits add a little time, they shouldn't be too complicated for a shed and they ensure essential safety standards are met.

For example, in Ontario a building permit is not required if it's a simple storage shed under a certain square footage (161 sq feet as of April 2025) and it doesn't have plumbing and isn't attached to any other structures.
